Accountability Coach

The voice of reason we could all benefit from and the one who can keep us on track to achieving our athletic goals

Why it Matters?

As athletes, we constantly question ourselves:

  • Am I doing the right things?

  • Am I progressing at an appropriate pace?

  • Should I be playing a different position?

  • Why am I not getting more playing time?

  • What do I need to do to earn that opportunity?

Too often, our only soundboard is our family — people who love us but may struggle to stay objective. And sometimes, you simply don’t want to hear it from your parents — or maybe you don’t believe they fully understand what it actually takes to reach the level you’re striving for.

That’s where an accountability coach can step in.

Not only do they help you cultivate your goals, but they become that neutral sounding board — someone you can go to with those tough questions you might hesitate to ask your coach directly. With enough context about who you are as a player and where you are in your development, they can help you see things clearly and guide you toward productive next steps

What is an Accountability Coach?

Think of your accountability coach as your project manager for athletic development. Their job is to keep you on track, focused, and moving toward your goals.

They’re an independent resource — completely separate from your team, program, or any private instructor. That independence gives you the freedom to ask honest questions, share frustrations, and get real, unfiltered feedback without worrying about repercussions.

Who Your Coach Will Be?

Your accountability coach will be someone who has already achieved what you’re striving for. Our coaches include current and former college athletes, professional players, and college coaches who understand the path you’re on. They’re not here to talk to your coach or promote you to the next level — their sole focus is helping you focus on you: your habits, your consistency, your mindset, and your growth.

The Real Value

There’s an abundance of information out there on how to develop the various aspects of your game, maybe too much. Athletes and their families are getting overwhelmed— what most athletes really need is clarity and someone to help them stick to the course.

Your accountability coach provides:

  • Direction — helping you focus on what truly moves you forward.

  • Accountability — ensuring you follow through week to week (or even day to day).

  • Perspective — helping you stay grounded and not get distracted by what others are doing.

Confidence — reinforcing that you’re taking the right steps to reach your goals.

FAQ's

  • All meetings with your coach are virtual and take place on google meet.

  • Generally speaking, you should plan on each session to take 20 - 30 minutes. Coaches will likely put a hard stop on a meeting after 30 minutes to uphold their other scheduled commitments. With all that said, it's important to understand we're not here to check a time box. If all items are covered in the agenda in less than 20 minutes and you feel the sessions are productive that is completely ok.

  • No problem! Just let us know at least 12 hours in advance. If the coach is able to meet at another time that week they will let you know, if not you can just cancel that session. Any meeting cancelled inside the 12 hour window will result in you using your meeting credit.

  • Yes - on the Teambuildr app. Questions may come up throughout the week. Feel free to message your coach on Teambuildr. Coaches will respond within 24 hours to your question. If you have multiple questions and/or your question merits a longer discussion, write it down and start your next session with it.

  • Our accountability coaches are current or former college/pro athletes who have already achieved what you set out to achieve. They can probably relate to most of the challenges you are facing and provide guidance on how to navigate your athletic development journey in an efficient manner.

  • We do our best to pair you with an accountability coach who can best help you reach your goals. If you don't believe we've found the right fit for you, we will try and find you a more suitable fit. However, it is important to note that finding a new coach might require a different schedule for sessions.

  • Yes, your accountability coach can answer skills and technique related questions but we would not advise making this the focal point of your session.

  • Yes. You can use your session to review game film, although we would not advise using the whole session to do this. It's also important to understand that different coaches have different strategic philosophies. Our coaches will provide critiques on game film but it could be different than the system or strategy your coach wants your team to play.
